ÎÞÂëÊÓÆµ CIEST:
Successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary research team of engineers utilizing the broad testing capabilities of the Center for Infrastructure, Energy, and Space Testing (CIEST), which includes the Geotechnical Centrifuge, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Testing Laboratories. Under common management, CIEST makes its outstanding testing capabilities and research personnel available to academic, government, and industry users from a wide variety of engineering and earth science fields.
Position Description:
CIEST is looking for a motivated undergraduate student for technical assistant position
CIEST supports undergraduate teaching, graduate research, and industrial projects. Areas of research include geotechnical, structural engineering, and construction materials. Lab conducts routine tests using high power hydraulic actuators, MTS/Instron, and various mechanical tools.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- This is entirely hands-on position requiring physical labor such as lifting, tooling, connecting data acquisition from the test, cleaning before/after the test, and writing reports as needed.
- Daily assignments may shift depending on the priorities of lab operation
- Regular in-person availability must be noted weekly for work scheduling
- Previous working experience in a lab environment will be a plus but not required
Pay starts at $17/hr. Applicants should have availability up-to 20 hours per week at CIEST located in the Engineering Building (ECCE 1B60B).
