Buff Experience Transformation Update

Buff Experience Transformation Update – May 26, 2026
Sprint 3 DemoÌýNextÌýWeek: Another Milestone AheadÌý
The Buff Experience Transformation project will reach another key milestone this week as Sprint 3 concludes. On June 1, the project team will hold a Sprint 3 demonstration session for subject matter experts and stakeholders, showcasing the latest Education Cloud configuration and functionality. These three-week sprint cycles continue to be the foundation of our build approach, allowing campus experts to review, test and provide feedback on system development in real time. The iterative nature of this process ensures that the final product reflects the operational needs and expertise of those who will use it daily.Ìý
Build Progress Across All WorkstreamsÌý
Since mid-May, build activities have continued across all four parallel workstreams. Cloud for Good has been advancing core Education Cloud configuration for Continuing Education and undergraduate advising, translating user stories into working system functionality. The Office of Information Technology's Learner Engagement Technology team continues work on transitioning essential services from the legacy Buff Portal Advising system while maintaining current operations to ensure uninterrupted support for students and staff. Marcus Thomas (formerly Devs United) is progressing on the Marketing Cloud transition to the new instance. All teams are refining user stories and preparing for upcoming sprint demonstrations and testing sessions.Ìý
Decisions and Timeline UpdatesÌý
The project team continues work on finalizing detailed MVP feature prioritization, data migration scope and timelines, and the Marketing Cloud subscription data model. Final approvals are progressing on remaining discovery deliverables, including the Security Framework and Data Cloud Design Plan. Configuration and development work remains on track to continue through October 2026, followed by end-user testing and training. We remain committed to transparency about what will be available at launch and what will be delivered in subsequent phases as the system scales across campus.Ìý
License Needs AssessmentÌý
As we announced last week, we are conducting a brief survey to help assess licensing needs across participating campus units. The goal of this review is to ensure that we fully understand the licenses required within units and divisions, while informing future-state planning as the project scales. Your input will help the project team make informed, responsible decisions in partnership with campus.
Stay EngagedÌý
Weekly Q&A sessions continue every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and are open to all campus stakeholders. These sessions provide ongoing opportunities to ask questions, share feedback, and stay informed as the system takes shape. Working groups continue to meet regularly and can schedule additional sessions on specific topics as needed.
